Ghost Stories West End

Updated: Feb 10, 2020

Lyric Hammersmith’s recent revival of Ghost Stories is set to transfer to the West End for a run at the Ambassadors Theatre later this year.

Written by Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman, the play is set around a lecture by Professor of Parapsychology Phillip Goodman. He believes most ‘ghost stories’ can be explained away, apart from three that he has come across in his research.

Nyman starred in the play when it premiered at the Liverpool Playhouse 2010, before it transferred to the Lyric Hammersmith, followed by West End runs at the Duke of York’s in 2010 and the Arts Theatre in 2014.

Following a run in Sydney and a 2017 film adaptation starring Nyman, Martin Freeman, Alex Lawther and Paul Whitehouse, the original creative team – headed by Dyson and Nyman as directors with then-Lyric artistic director Sean Holmes – returned to stage the revival earlier this year.

Ghost Stories will run at the Ambassadors Theatre from 3rd October to 4th January with tickets now on sale.

There will also be a special late-night performance of the show on Halloween, 31st October, beginning at 10pm.

Simon Lipkin, performing as Professor Goodman, Garry Cooper playing Tony Matthews, Preston Nyman, appearing as Simon Rifkind and Richard Sutton, playing Mike Priddle, will all reprise their Lyric Hammersmith Theatre roles in the show. Movement Director will be Lloyd McDonagh

The production has designs by Jon Bausor, lighting by James Farncombe, sound by Nick Manning and special effects by Scott Penrose.

Ghost Stories is at the Ambassadors Theatre from 3rd October to 4th January.

Ghost Stories tickets are now on sale.
